This is a fasinating piece on how UP and NS are using astroturfing to push through their merger. The fact that they got so many supposedly independnt organizations to back this deal is pretty wild. What really stands out to me is the Bull Moose Project supporting this when they normally call out mega mergers. That just feels like pure coruption or some kind of payoff. The historical parallel to Roosevelt breaking up Harriman's railroad monopoly is spot on. Honestly if regulators approve this it will be terrible for shippers and probably workers too. Great investigative work here.

Great piece Brett, the frenzy for selfish profits among some greedy individuals continues to drive us all off the cliff to economic ruin and ecological collapse. The current 'gilded age' is filled with fools' gold as it was in the 1920's, where people sold out friends and neighbors for their own enrichment, disgraceful state of affairs indeed.

Is there any explanation for why the Bull Moose Project is endorsing this merger?
